Autumn calls for easy, breezy effortless styles with a bit more of a grown up look. It’s super easy to create some new looks with not much effort, and this Fall, hair trends are certainly pointing towards just that! We’re seeing lots of loose braided hair trends showing up lately with plenty of different fresh takes on this classic staple that delivers pure effortless, natural style – perfect for Fall!

Read on for 4 easy fall hairstyle grown up hairstyle trends you can create in just minutes!

1. The Crown Braid

The crown braid is a classic that always looks great and goes perfectly for any event this fall.

How to Get it:

Create loose waves by placing your wet hair, sprayed with Waves Sea Spray in a loose bun on top of the head the night before. Begin your french braid on the side, continuing around the crown of the head adding in small pieces as you go until you get to the other ear. Before sealing with a hair elastic, pull the braid apart loosely by pancaking it for a loose look. Tuck the end behind the ear with bobby pins.

2. The Half Up Top Knot

How to Get It:

Let hair air dry. Add in Styling Cream for soft, flowy texture. Loosely gather hair on top of the head in a loose bun. Secure with elastic and place bobby pins around the side to keep bun in place.

3. The Super Loose Side Fish Tail Braid

How to Get It:

Start with air dried hair, that was sprayed when damp with Waves Sea Spray. Pull hair into a side ponytail. Divide ponytail into two equal sections. Separate a half-inch section of hair from the outside of the left ponytail. Pull a piece across the top of the left ponytail over to the right ponytail. Do the same on the right and continue down the hair until you get about half way down. Place an elastic at the end. Then loosely pancake and pull the braid apart so that it becomes big and billowy. Secure a piece of hair around the base to cover the elastic.

4. The Side Braid Pony

How to Get It:

Straighten hair and finger comb with Styling Cream. Add Volume Root Powder at the crown to help give hair a quick lift. Finger comb hair back into a pony at the nape of the neck. Leave out a thick chunk of hair on the side. French braid hair down and towards the pony by adding pieces from the front. Leave out a few face framing pieces. Pancake the braid by pulling it apart for a loose look. Secure in pony and wrap with hair to cover elastic. You can also switch up this look by securing braid into a loose bun instead of a pony.

Hair styling doesn’t have to be an added stress for the upcoming holiday season! Keep looks simple and easy by adding chic loose braids to classic ponytails, buns and more, and you’re hair will stay right on trend as the weather starts to cool! What looks are you enjoying this season? Do tell!!!!:)

10 Tips to Stop the Gray Hair from Coming in Early

Sunday, June 4th, 2017

You got to love how once you see the first gray hair they seem to just keep on coming and never stop, only getting worse, making you wish you had suddenly found the fountain of youth.

Yep, age has a way of catching up to you quickly and the gray hairs don’t lie! You can pluck and dye all you want, but they are absolutely unavoidable!

1.Fill up on Calcium and get your regular Most people in their mid-thirties – to forties will start to see some grays pop up. Gray Hair in fact, actually has nothing to do with stress, even though the hair myth continues. Hair instead, naturally begins to go gray when color-producing cells stop producing pigment. Hydrogen Peroxide also naturally begins to build up in the hair as we age, causing it to have a bleaching effect- which shows up as those nasty gray hairs.

However, contrary to what most people believe about gray hair and genetics (while genetics does play a role), there are actually steps you can take to avoid going gray early!

workouts in! Some studies have shown that low bone-density has been associated with going gray earlier on. Working out regularly and getting your calcium can help bones become stronger and more dense, hopefully, in turn keeping that pesky gray hair from showing up too early!

2. Get your Vitamins! A Vitamin B12 deficiency has been linked to going gray early on, according to WebMD. Make sure you get this vitamin in your diet or be sure to take Vitamin B12 drops daily!

3. Get a doctor checkup. Having a malfunctioning pituitary gland or thyroid gland has also been linked to premature graying. An underactive thyroid can be linked to weight gain and having cold hands and feet are also a common symptom, so if you think your thyroid may be the problem, visit your doctor to have it checked out!

4. Put down the cigarettes! There is significant evidence to show that smoking can actually lead to premature graying (along with a whole lot of other health and skincare aging problems!)

5. Eat Healthfully! There actually is a certain kind of stress that can cause those grays to come in earlier than normal, and it’s called oxidative stress and it’s related to environment pollutants and poor diet. While we can’t always do much about the environment, we CAN watch what we eat! Here are some foods that have been shown to stop hair from turning gray early on: Walnuts, mushrooms, oysters, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, blueberries, sunflower seeds, chickpeas, lentils, spirulina, chicken, and prawns. Foods to Avoid: refined sugar, soda, and flour.

6. Massage Scalp with egg oil. Twice a week, whip up some eggs, massage it into the scalp, cover with a shower cap and leave it on your hair overnight. Egg contains antioxidants, zeaxanthin, and lutein, which have all been shown to stop premature grays from coming in and can even reverse it if you already have some gray hair! Butter also has a similar effect and can be used as a hair mask once or twice a week as well.

7. Get some sunshine! Sun contains Vitamin D (and so do hair follicles). Getting an ample amount of vitamin D has been shown to keep hair healthy and strong!

8. Shampoo less often. Hair loses moisture as we age and shampoo can be drying. Stick to washing only 2-3 times a week, and always condition your hair whenever it is washed!

9. Kick the Coffee Habit. Caffeine, along with alcohol and other dehydrating drinks can actually speed up the graying process, so limit your drinks or kick the coffee habit altogether!

10. Speaking of hydration, drink your water! Water keeps hair (and skin!) Hydrated! And hydrated hair helps nutrients reach the follicles easier, making it healthier, stronger, and less likely to gray!

Unfortunately, we can’t completely stop the graying! If you can’t beat it, hide it! Hair coloring and highlights are a great way to cover the grays naturally.

Remember, good health is key for great hair, no matter if it’s gray or not. Eat right, exercise, kick the bad habits, get plenty of sleep, and stay hydrated and not only will your skin keep it’s natural hair color for hopefully a bit longer, but you’ll also see many more better hair days in the meantime!

7 Hair Tips, Tricks, and Styling for Your Tropical Adventure

Tuesday, April 18th, 2017

Spring Break has finally arrived and here are some great hair tips for your travel.

1.Ocean water can totally be your friend when it comes to styling your hair. Welcome our Waves Sea Spray! After a day of playing in the ocean, don’t run back to the hotel to wash your hair out, but instead, put it into a loose braid while it’s wet, and unravel for gorgeous waves and beautiful texture for your night out with the girls!

2. You’re on vacation and the last thing you want to do is spend an hour in front of the mirror blow drying and straightening your hair. In fact, don’t even bring your heated tools! Now is not the time to go for stick-straight hair.
After washing your hair at night, put your hair up in a bun on the top of your head while still wet, and take it out in the morning for some gorgeous waves. Finish with some styling spray that’s got some hold, and you’re good to go!

3. Use coconut oil whenever you can! Not only does it smell great and totally fits the climate, but it will help moisturize your hair from all the playing in the water and sun. You can also mix it with any of your styling products as well! Just be careful, a little goes a long way!

4. Speaking of the sun, be sure to wear a hair protectant (or hat!) or leave in conditioner each day. Use this as a styling cream in the morning. Wake up, spray through the hair, scrunch some waves, and be on with your fabulous day!

5. For evening vary up your style by using your fabulous ocean water textured hair to place your hair in a big top bun, chignon, low bun, loose braid, half-up do, or the bun half up-do which is making a come back this year! It takes only a few minutes and the texture will make your hair look extra glamorous and sexy.

6. You don’t need a lot of hair products or tools when vacationing somewhere tropical. Pack a few essential styling products like this Glam on the Go travel set to help you easily and quickly style your hair with minimal effort! The hair wash, intensive moisturizer, and hair serum will quickly repair and moisturize hair so you can get back to having fun in the sun!

7. Always remember, less is more on vacation. Not only are you there to relax, but your look and styling should be carefree too – and that includes hair, makeup, and clothing. Go for an effortless-chic look.

Happy Green Styling!

6 Tips for Great Hair Days in Spring!

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017
Winter is on it’s way out and the days are finally getting longer. The birds are chirping, the flowers are starting to bloom, and the sun is shining brighter and warmer with each new day. With Spring here, many of us are busy updating our patio and getting our yard in order, moving the winter clothes out of our closet and bringing in the shorts, skirts, and tank tops, and switching up our overall routine a bit to accommodate the warmer weather and Spring activities.

One part of our routine that tends to fall by the wayside, but shouldn’t, is our hair care routine. When the weather starts to warm up, some climates either become drier and some become more humid. Spring calls for an adjustment in hair products to get the most out of your hair.
tips to get your hair ready for spring

Here are tips to help you get your Hair Spring-Ready!

1. Get a haircut! Winter has probably done some damage to your hair and your ends are probably showing it the worst! Get a trim for a quick and easy way to immediately add some new life to hair

2. Winter can be super drying on hair and it’s time to give your hair some much-needed moisture. Replenishing Serum infused with uber-moisturizing ingredients such as coconut and sunflower oils, do a great job of sealing in moisture that has been lost in the cooler months. If you live somewhere humid, this product is also really great for helping de-frizz hair, keeping it manageable, soft, sleek, and shiny too!

3.  Deep conditioning is a must! Using an overnight hair mask once a week can do wonders for the hair and will quickly give it some new life after a long cold Winter! Hair is in desperate need of repair, and treating it with deep moisturizing ingredients will help it look fuller, healthy, and more lustrous too. Try our Hair Repair Mask to return your locks to healthy and shiny. Switch out your regular conditioner for a Deep Intensive Moisturizing Conditioner if you tend to slack on the masks! As the weather warms up, begin to phase the deep conditioning out of your hair routine for summer.

4. Add coconut oil to your styling products. Coconut oil works great for adding a kick of moisture, not to mention it smells amazing and makes hair look immediately healthier, shinier and glossier too! No matter what your styling product, just mix in your hand with a small dab of coconut oil and apply to hair. Tip: Be Careful – a little coconut oil goes a LONGGGG way!

5. Use a Leave-in Conditioner when you’ll be out in the sun. Like skin, your hair can be harmed by the UV rays of the sun and can be dried out, damaged, and susceptible to breakage. Wear a big sun hat when you can, otherwise, spray on a quick leave in conditioner before leaving the house, or keep in your bag for on-the-go. Bonus: A good leave in conditioner works well as a good styling cream and can add texture, softness, and shine to hair!

6. If you’re dealing with a lot of humidity or rain where you live, try our Dry Shampoo to extend hair washings, so your hair won’t be so susceptible to frizz. The less you wash (2-3 times a week is optimal)- the healthier your hair, but don’t skip on conditioner! Using a shampoo or products that are lightweight or contain glycerin can also help keep your hair fresh, tamed, and unaffected by the weather!

Hopefully armed with these tips, your locks will be more manageable, and looking much more lustrous, shiny, and healthier too! So you can get out and focus on your other Spring Routines – With Fabulous Hair of Course!

Happy Glaming!

How to get the most beautiful hair

Thursday, September 8th, 2016

Many people think that the styling process is most important in creating beautiful hair, but he opposite is true. How you treat your hair during the basic care phases is key to determining how great it will look after you style it. The products and tools you use and how you use them, as well as self care, all play a role.

Go inside out. Start with what you put into your body as well as what you expose it to. Great eating habits will contribute to great hair. If you put healthy foods like plenty of lean proteins, fruits and vegetables into your body, then you will feel and look better. Hair included. When it comes to avoidances, keep stress and toxins like cigarette smoke and chemicals as far away as possible.

Don’t shampoo too often. Your hair’s natural oils are crucial to helping maintain strands, so don’t strip them. Opt for a regular professional blowout to maintain your style, and remember that dry shampoos can extend the life of your blowouts, especially if you have naturally curly hair.

After conditioning, try rinsing your hair with cold water to help seal the cuticle and prevent moisture from entering your hair follicles, which causes frizz.

Take care when wet. This is when your hair is the most delicate. Let it dry almost all the way prior to heavy brushing. And use a natural-bristle brush to minimize damage.

Dry carefully. Choose the warm setting and hold your dryer 6 to 8 inches out, pointing down. This deters frizz. Never use the hottest setting, especially if you intend to use other tools that will emit heat onto your hair. For extra protection, try an anti-frizz serum to protect from heat and help prevent styling damage.

Volumize. Spray a volumizer on your dry roots. Flip over your hair and blow dry, and then brush to add smoothness.

Trim. For longer hair, we sometimes forget it’s important to keep regular trims. Every 6 to 8 weeks is ideal for healthy locks.

The products you use play such an important role in your hair’s health. All-natural and organic ingredients like those in green&glam hair care products bring out the best in your hair without exposing it to harsh ingredients. Nature’s best always brings out the most beautiful you!

Hair today, hair tomorrow.

Friday, August 28th, 2015

If you’re looking for inspiration for fall hairstyles, look no further than the 2015 bag of trends. The lobs of old are still new. We’ve seen the shorter, fresh looks that lived early in the year – the funky pixie cuts, and bobs of all shapes and lengths – and they’re forecasted to delight through the year’s end.

We have enjoyed the shorter, less fussy looks the past few months, and it’s great to see the trends continuing into the winter:

The short, edgy pixie is such a fun and carefree look. If you’re going for the style, make it a little mussed and piece-full. Better to keep it feminine, which can flop if the cut is too uniform and short all over.

The bob has become so fun, with short and long variations. Having a longer bob that sits just at the collarbone is a continuance of the look you attained with your shorter bob early on – or, it can be a brand-new cut if you had held out and held on to longer locks all year. Care and styling is so light and easy, with less to do and less time spent. Fun tools like curling wands and straighteners make it easy to produce a variety of styles with your bob to keep it exciting and different. The asymmetrical look is still in, and can be achieved with the cut and layering, or by simply tucking or pinning on one side. So simple to achieve, and so fun!

If you are keeping your length, a fresh trim with some feathering at the ends is always the way to add volume and lightness to your healthy hair

Of course we want you to take the best care of your locks, and that means using the safest, most nourishing products you can find. Green+glam uses only the most sustainable and organic ingredients we can find for our formulas. Create the look you want with your shorter cut, with a variety of our products. Volumizing Spray, Styling Cream, Shine & Hold Spray and Waves Sea Spray are the very best styling products around, and won’t harm you or the environment. And don’t forget to condition and protect with our wonderfully acclaimed Hair Repair Mask and glam shampoo, conditioner and serum. We love it! So will you.

Revisiting essential oils

Friday, July 31st, 2015

While we’ve discussed the basics of essential oils in our past posts, we at Organic Beauty Now feel so strongly about the healthful benefits derived from essential oil properties, we love to discuss why we continue to develop our products with these ingredients. After all, anything that comes directly from plants like these oils do, must be the very best nature can offer in skin care.

The purity of essential oils comes from their concentrated liquid form, directly from the plant. Not only do plant oils contain the essence of their fragrance (hence the name “essential oil”), they encompass the aroma compounds and the healthful properties.

Oils are available from all kinds of plants, as well as all different parts of the plant including the flower, root, wood, leaf, seed, berry and peel. The oil is extracted from the plant by different methods including cold pressing, which is a mechanical extraction. Since some flowers are too delicate for the latter method, solvent extraction is often used to express their oils.

We love the use of essential oils as ingredients for our green&glam products, including the following favorites:

sage
jasmine
rose
lavender
marjoram
clementine
pink grapefruit
coconut

In addition to being completely moisturizing, these oils lend wonderfully soothing aromatherapy for mood boosts, mental clarity, congestive relief and relaxation. The best part? The oils we use in our green&glam skin and hair care products is toxin-free. We use purely sustainable and certified organic essential oils in our products. If you haven’t tried essential oil-containing products for your skin and hair care routines, green&glam is a great place to start. We pride ourselves on providing only the most simple products with the ingredients nature gives us. Check out our Bath & Body line. From soothing oils to restorative masks, you’ll find favorite oils in all of our products. Enjoy!
