Organic shaving creams, gels and oils give you smooth shaves, naturally

Truth is, I liked my synthetically created shaving cream — great foam, clean shave. What’s not to like? That is, until I did an ingredient check and found all of the toxic goodies packed in that puffy, white foam. Myristic acid, Potassium Hydroxide, triethanolamine (TEA) and parabens, which are linked to cancer and reproductive problems, were a just a few of the alarming ingredients I was slathering on (and men, this means right on your face.) Yikes!

Compare this to some of the ingredients in natural shaving cream — aloe, sunflower oil and essential oils from every flower and fruit you can think of — and it’s easy to make the switch, and get over the foam. That’s right people, you have to give up the foam. The biggest difference between synthetic shaving cream and organic shaving cream is the texture.

Almost all synthetic shaving creams are foamy. Foam is created with synthetic emulsifiers while organic shaving soaps utilize natural oils and natural emulsifiers. While the puffy white foam does have its merits, (it’s fun to watch it grow!), what would you rather put on your skin, acrylate crosspolymer or coconut oil and aloe vera?

An added bonus for choosing the ingredients that you can actually pronounce is that natural oils and emulsifers also provide a smoother shave, which translates to soft, silky, hydrated skin. Organic shave cream moisturizes as you shave away the hair.

Guys, you’ll be lovin’ your face with these organic men’s grooming products, too. Once you give up the foam and switch to organic shaving cream, you’ll never go back. Trust me!

Here are my faves:

Miessence Shave Gel feels different from any other shave gel I have ever used. This is a unique organic shaving gel in that it goes on like a transparent lotion and is super moisturizing. Organic emollients, such as sunflower, aloe and chamomile not only protect from razor burn, but also soften, really. And, guys, did I mention a super close, smooth shave…or should I say, girls? It’s safe to say, you will miss this product if you run out. And true for most organic shave creams, a little goes a long way.

Miessence After Shave Balm Shaving can rough up your skin, and broken skin is vulnerable to chemical absorption. That”s why using natural and organic aftershave is super important. When Miessence says organic they mean international organic food standards. Made with aloe vera, St. John”s wort and witch hazel, so it”s naturally soothing and bracing. Mmmmm…

Vitaman Shave Oil We don”t need to tell you about the risks of the razor. That”s why this organic shave oil is such a winner. It puts a protective layer between the blade and your face, maximizing the razor”s edge to give you a close shave. The active, organic ingredients  warm your skin, increasing blood flow while softening and lifting hair follicles so your shave gets even closer with less collateral damage.

Here’s to adding a whole new dimension to your morning showers. Organic shave creams hydrate your skin while the scents of many of these products offer up sweet aromatherapy in a bottle. The best part? We sacrifice nothing in order to be environmentally good to ourselves and our world. Enjoy!

Hi Dougs! Thanks for your reply. We looked up the Black Ice Shave Cream and, unfortunately, saw a few ingredients that wouldn't meet our standards for offering here at Organic Beauty Now. One is sodium hydroxide, which ranks a moderate hazard on the Skin Deep Database. The other is sodium borate, which ranks a moderate to high hazard. If this concerns you, you might want to contact the manufacturer and get their take on these ingredients. Good luck and good health!

The Gentlemens Refinery is my favorite natural shave cream. All natural, great lather, only have to use a little bit. They have one scent called Black Ice Shave Cream that is unique in the mens grooming world.
